Willie Norman Bacon was born June 28, 1958 in Johnson, Iowa to the parentage of Elder Norman Carl Bacon and Bernice Bacon. Willie loved his sports, especially the LA Lakers. Like many, his favorite player was Kobe Bryant. As a young man growing up in Portland Oregon, he was dedicated to two things: McDonalds’ Big Breakfast on Saturdays and seeing himself in the mirror, to make sure he was looking good. Willie liked to dress, and he always made sure he was wearing the latest fashions; if he thought his hair was out of place, he’d take another ten minutes on one area.
There wasn’t anything Wille thought he could not do. He always talked about having a good job and that he would never be without money in his pocket.
Wille moved to Amarillo Texas in the 1990’s, settled and had a great life. He was very spiritually dedicated. He spoke highly of his church and wanted everyone to experience God as he did. When his health began to change, and life wasn’t as grand, Willie never lost faith in God, always saying to me “Sister, remember God is Good in any situation”.
Wille often spoke about Portland being his true home and that one day he was coming back. It was when his older Brother passed, earlier this year, that he began to speak adamantly about being home, often telling me, “I’m getting ready Sis.” and I would say well brother, I’m still waiting.
Preceding him in Death are his Parents; Norman and Bernice Bacon, and Brother; William C. Bacon. He leaves to cherish his memory and to remember his life, many friends of Amarillo, Texas. His Sister; Felicia Bacon-Johnson, a host of Nephews, Nieces, Grand Nephews and Nieces, all of Portland, Oregon.
God took Willie before he could make it home to Portland. But there wasn’t a mansion for him in Portland. There are not gateways of Pearl, nor streets paved with Gold. God took him to a place Portland cannot compare, a place where Health cannot compete, a place Death can never be. Rest in Peace Brother, God has you now.
