Mr. Van Lee Johnson was born on February 14, 1959, to Jessie Lee Johnson and Dorothy Marie "Cooks" Johnson in Plainview, Texas. The family moved to Amarillo, Texas, on July 2, 1977. He attended Tascosa High School, where he graduated. Van did lawn work, washed cars, and electronic work on TVs.
Van loved to fish, go to church, and loved watching football. Van's favorite team was, "Any team that beat the Dallas Cowboys". Van was a very giving person who made friends with everyone he met.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Jessie Lee and Dorothy Marie Johnson, one sister: Vernona Jean Johnson and one brother: Bobby Lee Johnson.
He is survived by five sisters: Alice Agu-Tony Carol Walker-Alex of Sacramento, California, Janis Wilson(Henry) of Dallas, Texas, Billie "Candi" Durley Coonfield (Kevin) of Amarillo, Texas, Terena Johnson of Amarillo, Texas, four brothers: Glaston Johnson, Don Johnson (Shay), Darron Johnson (Virginia), and Willie Johnson all of Amarillo, Texas, special aunts and uncles: Raymon and Murry Lee Peppers, Starlin, and Barbara Johnson, and a host of relatives and friends.
