Tonya Renee Montague was the first-born child and only girl of parents Jackie and Bertha Montague. She was born June 29, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas. Tonya was the apple of her parents’ eye.
Tonya began her pursuit of education at Rosenburg’s Kindergarten. She also attended Whittier Elementary, Travis Middle School and Palo Duro High, where she graduated in 1978. Tonya attended Amarillo College for a year and afterward she started her career in the medical profession as a unit clerk at the Old Northwest Texas Hospital in the newborn nursery. Tonya worked at NWTH for years before leaving to work in the office of Dr. Pablo Diaz, where she was employed for several years.
On June 30, 1982, Tonya gave birth to her first love, Kevin Lee Carter whom she adored. She always had him dressed so handsomely (everything matching) and he was spoiled rotten. On September 25th, 1990, while grieving the sudden loss of her mother, she gave birth to Gabriel Wallace Montague whom she also adored and spoiled rotten. Tonya loved her boys. She did her best to make sure they always had whatever they needed and most of whatever they wanted. She opened her home to her son’s friends, and they knew they were always welcome.
Tonya was a kind-hearted woman who helped everyone, who asked no matter if it meant, she would do without. Tonya was an avid reader and had read a LOT of books. She loved to cook and loved eating her cooking because she knew she was a great cook.
