Teriot was born in Palestine, Texas to Archie LaCourageous “Doc” Cravin (US Army WWII 1922-1934) and Elsie Simpson Cravin. He graduated from A. M. Story in 1965 and enlisted in the US Navy, 1966-1970. Teriot received his B. A. in communications from San Francisco State University and worked in healthcare logistics. He pursued an array of self-improvement endeavors, including various forms of martial arts, earning a black belt in karate.
He was an avid reader, spoke German, often joking that the only car he ever owned, a German-made 1971 orange Volkswagen Beetle, understood his German perfectly. Teriot became a vegetarian, convinced that every plate of food should be colorful, except for a big helping of banana pudding. He baked what he called “healthy bread” and knitted stylish hats and sweaters. A fitness buff, he jumped rope like Ali and walked miles each week. He married Leigh Brown in October 1998.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Archie L. “Bubba” Cravin (US Navy 1961-1967.) He leaves to mourn his passing an aunt, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a host of other friends and relatives.
A scholarship in the name of Teriot L. Cravin will be established with the Anderson County Community Council’s Lincoln/Story Scholarship Fund.
