Rose Mary Shanklin was born on November 25, 1949, to the union of Clyde E. Shanklin and Rose Marie Davis, in Hubbard Hill County in Texas.
Rose Mary received her formal education at Amarillo High School in Amarillo, Texas. Rose attended Texas Women's University, in Denton, Texas.
Rose Mary accepted Christ, as her Savior at an early age and was united with Mount Zion.
Rose Mary Shanklin and Charles Taylor have been partners in life and love for almost 50 years. Their union was blessed with children.
Rose was influential in Amarillo's bar and restuarant industry. Her kind personality always made people feel welcome and loved. Rose was an avid volunteer at the election polls. She never met a stranger, and everyone was treated as family. She always greeted everyone with a hug.
Rose enjoyed shopping, playing cards, arts and crafts, dancing and listneing to The Blues. She loved to entertain, "Down in The Basement".
Rose was a member of the Ebonaires.
Rose departed this life on January 5, 2022, peacefully in her home surrounded by family.
She is preceded in death by her grandmother, Kathryn Williams, aunt, Wiletta Jackson, father, Clyde E. Shanklin, mother, Rose Marie Davis, siblings, Don, Ronnie, Robert Anthony, Reggie, and Murphy.
She leaves to cherish her memory her life partner, Charles Taylor, son, Daunte' Scott (Shana), granddaughter, Te'Unah, sisters, Metris and Denise, and brothers, Meervin, Jr., Gerald, Ricky, and Felix. Rose had a whole host of nieces and nephews whom she adores.
