Ronnie Dale Smith went to be with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, September 10, 2020 at 1:15 PM. Ronnie was born July 13, 1941, the youngest of 8 children, to James Noah and Lucy Smith in McLean, Texas. He married the love of his life, Sharon ‘Diane’ Smith, on October 13, 1962.
Ronnie’s first career was as a barber after attending Amarillo Barber College. He also spent many years on the Amarillo Police Department as a Motorcycle Police officer also included serving in the Canine Unit. After his service as a police officer, he began a career as a care salesman which included ownership of Branding Iron Motors. Ronnie’s greatest accomplishment was his Evangelical Ministry throughout the Texas Panhandle with his wife Diane and three children.
He was preceded in death by his parents Noah and Lucy Smith; beloved wife Diane; two brothers Vergal Smith and James Noah Smith Jr; sister Edith Smith; daughter Teresa Smith and son Bert Clay Smith.
Survivors include two sons Dale W. Smith of Carrollton and Eric W. Smith and wife Melissa of Amarillo; two brothers Don Loyd Smith and wife Barbara of Amarillo, Raymond Smith of Austin, two sisters Vergie Ballard of Amarillo and Annette Horton of Tyler; eight grandchildren Kelli Roberson and husband Michael of Amarillo, Brittany Benavidez of Louisville, Kentucky, Chelsea Smith of Lubbock , Raleigh Smith and Pippa Smith of Bushland, Spenser Smith and wife Rachel of Amarillo, Greyson Smith of Amarillo, and Joshua Smith of Dallas; six great-grandchildren Patrick and Nathan McGrane, Mazie, Madalyn, and Penelope Roberson, and Eve Smith; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and friends
Services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at First Family Church, 6101 Bell St, Amarillo, by pastor Billy Nichols; Graveside services will be held at 12:30 Hillcrest Cemetery in McLean, Texas by Pastor La Von Thompson of Life of Praise Fellowship Church.
