Ricky was born in Friona, Texas to Billy and Charlene Shepherd. He grew up in Bovina, Texas.
He was named All State Football Player of the year in 1981. Ricky was also named in the Lone Star Gridiron as one of ` the players receiving the most yards in a career in 1980-1981. After graduation, he attended college at Panhandle State. He was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan. He moved to Amarillo, Denver, Colorado and back to Amarillo where he worked for Levi’s and Hastings as supervisor for years.
Ricky is preceded in death by his father, Billy, grandparents, Bennie and Florence Shepherd, Hill and Maudie Johnson.
He leaves to cherish his memory his mother, Charlene (Amarillo), Love of his life, (Little Woman), Tammy; son, Ricky Jr. (Francesca), Denver, CO; daughters, Jennifer (Amarillo), Tiffany (Arlington, TX); Stepchildren, Tiesha, Donovan and Ebony (Amarillo) Bonus children; Anthony, Monica, Melissa (Nardo), Jozette all of Denver, Colorado, CD (Erica) Amarillo, TX; siblings, Robbie (Arlington, TX) Vickie and /cookie (Amarillo), Candy (Chuck) Dallas, TX; his best friend, cousins, Richard (Albuquerque, NM), twenty-nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
