Phyllis Oages Obituary

Phyllis Yvette Oages was born on November 27, 1962, in Amarillo, TX to John Henry and Gladys Faye Oages. She was the 9th of 11 children. She attended Job Corp in Guthrie, OK and Paris High School in Paris, TX. She worked a variety of jobs until she started her career at Amarillo College where she worked for 23 years until her retirement in 2021.

Phyllis known as “Phiz” by most was known for her smile and her sense of humor. She was always found to be making jokes. Some say she was the realest person they knew because she would say exactly what was on her mind. She loved spending time with her family and friends. She loved shared meals and family celebrations. She did not mind helping others and giving to anyone in need. She was a lifetime member of Shiloh.  She loved her church and church family. She cleaned the church weekly and attended Wednesday night Bible Study faithfully. She loved singing in the choir.

Phyllis was proceeded in death by her parents John and Gladys Oages, brothers Harold Thomas, Johnny Drizzle and Billy Oages and a beloved brother-in-law Michael Brown.

She leaves to cherish her memory one daughter Kristina Fayelynn Oages. Five sisters Faye Bonner, Brenda Oages, Deborah Brown, Janice Hollimon and Jackie Meander. Two brothers Kenneth Oages and Curtis Oages. A host of uncles, nieces, nephews and cousin. Although Phyllis will be dearly missed, she will forever remain in our hearts.
