Obituary

Oscar Wayne Hicks Jr. was a lifelong resident of Amarillo TX. He was born on November 20, 1965, to Oscar Hicks, Sr., and Linda B Hicks. Oscar graduated from Palo Duro High School in 1984. He was the life of the party when he walked in the room. Just his presence gave you so much joy. He married the love of his life Renatta Calhoun, in November 2010. Together they shared a beautiful bond. Oscar was an amazing family man and a great friend.  He always gave a helping hand to others around him with his knowledge. Oscar was a jack of all trades, he was a great mechanic and could fix just about anything, if he couldn’t do it, he would find a way. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan and loved wearing blue “All day Baby” for every game. Oscar was strict though, before you ate in the kitchen he would say “Make sure you wash those hands”. He would throw down on the grill and loved to feed everybody.

Along with being an amazing husband, son, father, and grandfather, Oscar stepped up as the oldest child to help his mother raise his siblings, nieces, nephews, and great nephews.   Oscar will be remembered by many nicknames, “O Dogg, O.H, Hicks, Big O, and Mr. Horseman.”  Oscar left an everlasting impression in every single life and every single person he met. Those impressions will forever be in our hearts.

. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Walter and Jesse Bassett, father, Oscar Hicks, Sr., brother, Joseph A. Hicks, and sister, Lynda L Hicks of Amarillo, TX.

He leaves to cherish his memories his wife, Renatta Hicks; mother, Linda B Hicks; sister, Robbie (Chelle) Hicks; younger brother, Quinn J. (Jeana) Hicks of Amarillo; children. Oscar was a beloved father to his daughter, Ashley L Lankford of Edgewater, FL; son, Damorrion Barnes Hicks; three stepsons, Tyrese Calhoun, Terrill Calhoun and Marzett Calhoun of Amarillo, TX along with seven grandchildren, five nieces, three nephews, three great nieces, five great nephews and tons of cousins and family.
