Nuggie Mae (Meritt) Woods

Nuggie Mae Merrit was born to the late L.E. Merritt and Nuggie (Beatrice) Proby on October 15, 1941, in Bowie County TX and departed this earthly life to enter her eternal
heavenly life on July 21, 2025.

She joined in union with Oddie Woods in 1962, raising their children in Quanah and Amarillo. She moved to San Antonio in 2021, where she spent her final days. She loved dancing, playing cards, fishing, playing the lottery, and playing dominoes with her family.

Nuggie was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and three children: Otis Vernell Woods, Sharon Renae Parsons, and Charles Eck Woods, and three sisters: Lula Easter,
Evelyn Proby-Randle, and Verna Burns.

She is survived by and leaves to cherish her memory six loving daughters Sheryl Lemelle, Sylvia Martin, Marsha Collins, Olivia Woods of Amarillo TX, Victoria Woods of Vernon TX, and April Lamb of San Antonio TX; four loving sons George Collins of Amarillo TX, Elston Woods and Michael Woods of Quanah TX, Marvin Woods of Kentucky; and one loving sister Sandra Morris of Amarillo TX. She is also survived by 141 grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
