Mother Maxine Sue Cobbins Obituary

Mother Maxine Sue Williams-Cobbins was born July 18, 1942, to Mr. James Williams and Ms. Annie Jackson in Plainview, Texas. Mother Cobbins had six sisters and one brother. The family would eventually move from Plainview to Amarillo. Mother Cobbins graduated from Carver High School, and in 1962, she and Mr. Charlie Roy Cobbins, who preceded her in death, were wed in holy matrimony.

To this union were born five sons: Dennis Michael, Charles Leigh, Anthony Paul, Shannon DaWayne, and Shawn Andre, who preceded his mother in death. Mother Cobbins accepted Christ at an early age. She joined the Pentecostal Temple C.O.G.I.C. family where she served on the Usher’s Board. She was also a member of the Women’s Christian Council and was active as the Secretary of Sunday School. She loved serving the Lord in whatever capacity she was able to. May the Lord be pleased with her work.

Her career included working as a substitute teacher and as a registered nurse’s assistant. She loved spending time with family, reading, writing, crossword puzzles, and notetaking. She also loved traveling to attend her grandson’s (Michael) college basketball games.

Preceding her in death were her mother, Annie Lee Mills of Amarillo; sister, Missionary Zora Malone (Supt. Jesse Malone), Rialto, California; brother, Ernest-Grant (Thelma Johnson-Grant), Houston, Texas; sisters, Alice Grant, Sacramento, California, Norma Maxwell Keller, Texas, Doris Thomas (Miniter Levi Thomas) of Atlanta, Texas, Gayle Carter (Jerry) and Cynthia Mills, both
of Amarillo.

Mother Maxine Sue Williams-Cobbins leaves to cherish her memories her sons, Dennis Michael Cobbins (Tonya), Charles Leigh Cobbins, Anthony Paul Cobbins, and Shannon Dawayne Cobbins; youngest son, Shawn Andre Cobbins (preceded his mother in death); grandchildren, Jade Denise Cobbins of Atlanta, Georgia, Michael Jamal Cobbins (Alyx) of Amarillo, Shawn Andrea Cobbins of Dallas, Takita Daniels, DeMarcus Daniels, Davlyn Daniels, Tamika Daniels, Shannon Cobbins, Jr., and LaTracia Desiree Cobbins, all of Amarillo; and a host of great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.
