Mattie George Obituary

Mattie Faye George, 62, passed from this present life into eternity on Saturday, April 25, 2025, in Amarillo, TX. Mattie was born May 5, 1962, in Amarillo, TX, to Mattie and Ernest Bradley. She spent most of her formal years in Amarillo, TX, completed her education in the Amarillo Independent School District, and worked in the healthcare field for the majority of her life. Mattie lived her later years happily in Dallas, Texas. Mattie accepted Christ into her life at an early age and understood the importance of her salvation. In August of 1979, Mattie wed Martins George of Lagos, Nigeria. Mattie and Martins built a loving home where they raised four daughters and one son. They remained united until Martins' untimely death on April 5 of 2008. Mattie also lovingly raised one goddaughter Dominique Clayton.

Mattie was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Mattie; her loving husband, Martins George (2008); her son, Babatunde George (1994); her brothers, John Crain, Willie Crain, and Billy Crain; and her sisters, Ruth Stern, Francis Crain, Karen Crain, and Wilma Crain; sisters-in-law: Joyce Crain, Phyllis Crain, and Frances Bradley, as well as her best friend, Diane Impola.

Mattie leaves to cherish her memory four daughters: Lashandra Bradley (LaTrish), Marva George (Johnnel), Myeshia George (Latodd), and Rosemary George, all of Dallas, TX; nine grandchildren: Christopher Hendrix (Christina), Da'Shonah Hendrix (Marq), Amyre George, Demetriq Dameron, Jay'Cee Green, Jade Green, J'Nell Williams (Ricky), Jeremiah Green, and Johnnel Green Jr.; and two great-grandchildren: Kingston Hendrix and Khari King. She is lovingly remembered by three sisters: Della Patton (Earl) of Edmond, Oklahoma; Ernestine Hollings of Balch Springs, TX; and Annie Westmoreland of Dallas, TX. Her six brothers, all of Amarillo, TX, Cozy Crain, Lemmie Crain, Glen Crain, Arthur Crain, Ernest Bradley Jr., and Oscar Bradley. Mattie also leaves behind her two “Golden Girls,” Juanita Volter and Shirley Lynch of Dallas, TX; a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and her beloved dog, Scruff
