Linda Hicks Obituary

Linda Bell Bassett Hicks was a lifelong resident of Amarillo, TX. She was born on December 19, 1950. She attended Hilltop Elementary and Carver High School and afterward she went to Guthrie Job Corp technical Institute School and took up trade electronics. Linda loved cooking. She finished trade school for Culinary Arts and worked at St. Anthonys Hospital for several years doing what she loved as one of the head cooks.  She became a Christian and accepted Christ in her heart at a very young age through various churches in Amarillo. She was the heart of the Hicks family.  She enjoyed listening to Chi-Lites, Barry White, and Brooke Benton. Linda was given the nick names “Leg woman”, “Ms. Bell” and “Momma B” She had a dance called the “Fever” . Linda brought smiles to many faces all around. She enjoyed her western movies and shows such as John Wayne (the Duke) and James Arness from Gunsmoke. These were some of her favorites. She loved her chocolate candy and Church’s Chicken with a side of jalapenos.   

She was preceded in her death by her loving grandparents, Isabel Thrower and Inez Thomas, father, and mother Walter and Jessie Mae Bassett, uncle, Arthur Hopes Uncle Eric Thrower and Aunt Rose Hope Block; sisters Rose Bassett Dent (Nancy), and Gloria Ann Bassett Covington; her children, Lynda Lashon Hicks, Oscar Wayne Hicks and Joseph Antwan Hicks.    

She leaves to cherish her memories brothers: Gale, (Angela) Bassett, Walter (Tracy) Bassett, and Gary Bassett of Guthrie Oklahoma; sister, Inez (Pat) Johnson of Pittsburgh, California; daughter, Robbye (Michelle) Hicks; son, Quinn Jucaye (Jeana) Hicks; son-in-law, Calvin (Snake) Jones and daughter-in-law, Renatta Hicks and three grandkids of Amarillo, TX. She assisted and raised her grandchildren, Justin, Jessica, Ashley, Aleasha (JJ), Taleasha, Martavia (Tae), Hannah (Bell), Lashonna, Damorrion and Jaylon Hicks, ten great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.
