Linda Devorce was born August 8,1950, in Memphis, Tx to Clara Mae Matthews and O.D. Matthews Sr. She moved to Amarillo in 1978 and became a member of St. Johns Baptist Church with late Pastor Grover Neal, she started working for Palo Duro Meat and then later she started working for Levi’s Strauss and retired. Her hobbies were singing gospel music, sewing, and loved to travel.
She has left her family to be with her parents, O.D. and Clara Mae Matthews, her son, Tracey Matthews; siblings, Henry Newsome, Mert Jenkins, CarolAnn Spearman, Roger Paul Matthews, Dorothy Matthews.
She has left her family with many wonderful members to cherish. She is survived by her son/grandson Demarcus Matthews, grandchildren, Maya Ford of Ft. Worth, Tx; Mardilen Matthews of Amarillo, Tx; Tracey Dawn Matthews, Trey Matthews of Ft. Worth, Tx; Tramika Matthews, Tracey Matthews Jr., Shelby Matthews, Tradon Matthews, and daughter in love, Tonya Matthews of Amarillo, Tx; and 13 beautiful great grandchildren, her siblings: Jerry “Hop” Rogers, O.D. “Melodie” Matthews Jr., of Memphis, Tx, Tommie "Ronnie” Proby of Pampa, Tx; Jeanetta Fields of Dallas, Tx; Erma Jean Matthews of Memphis, Tx; Oneta “Bobby” Mason of Amarillo, Tx. She will be missed by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church friends, and her best friend, Darlene Williams.
