Leslie Harper Obituary

Leslie Charles Harper was born on February 15, 1935, to the union of Spencer and Elzora Harper in Atlanta, Texas. He accepted Christ at an early age.

Leslie Charles Harper also known as LC, received his formal education at Booker T. Washington public school in Atlanta, Texas and graduated in 1954. After graduating he drove the school bus which gave him the opportunity to get to know everyone in the community.

Leslie was later drafted into the United States Navy in Texarkana, Arkansas on July 22, 1955, where he served for four years. He received the First Good Conduct Medal Award July 21, 1958.

Leslie re-enlisted in the United States Navy on board the U.S.S. Interceptor on April 28, 1959, in San Francisco, California. While in the Navy he attained the highest level of education majoring in Vocational Studies. Leslie Charles Harper received his Honorable Discharge July 21, 1963.

He resided in San Fransisco, California where he was an Independent Contractor and later moved back home to Amarillo, Texas in November 2019.  He loved working in his garden and working in his yard. It was nothing for him to get in his car and take a long road trip by himself. He loved talking on the phone to his relatives and some calls would last over an hour. Everyone thought they were his favorite, but he was the favorite of all. He had an infectious smile and a funny sense of humor. He had a giving heart and loved helping people.

Leslie Charles Harper departed this life on August 26, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Spencer and Elzora S. Harper, sisters Aldora Rodgers and Zonie Ree Couch, brother Roy Lee Harper, and daughter Regina Harper.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his daughters: Della Stamps of Denver CO, Doris Coleman of Wichita KS, Mia Cantrell of Novato CA, sister, Alveris Harper of San Francisco, CA, six  grandchildren, five great grandchildren, one great great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
