Larry Donnell Pennon

Larry Donnell Pennon was born February 2, 1957, to Cleophus, Sr and Martheria Armstrong Pennon, in Wellington, Texas. He is the third male child of nine boys and one sister. He attended elementary and secondary schools in Wellington, Texas, but eventually dropped out (unaware he was Dyslexic) at the age of 17, to help his mother and father. He assisted his father as a farm hand planting cotton and driving the tractor for the local cotton gin.  Eventually, he went into retail, and then contractor construction jobs in Texas and Oklahoma.

Larry’s mother worked as a cook at the Cherokee restaurant for many years. She would take a big pot of those beans to the local park to share with the community for those who did not have a meal. She worked as a hairdresser from home for the community.

Larry met Ruby Lynn Munn and to this union,  four sons were born,  Larry (Shannon) Donnell Munn, George Derand (Stormie) Munn, James Nayterrian Pennon (Amber), and Brandon Jermaine (Ruth) Pennon. They all went to school in Wellington, Texas, and the eldest attended Randall in Amarillo, Texas. Currently, they are adults with children and families of their own.

In 1994, Larry married his surgical and ICU Recovery nurse, Cynthia, daughter of Elder Fredrick Crawford and Dr. Margaret Crawford of El Paso, Texas.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers, James (toddler), and Arthur Pennon.

He leaves to cherish his memories Ronnie Pennon, Cleofus Jr., Clifford Pennon, Willie Pennon, Kirby Pennon, sister, Rachel Pennon, aunts, Faye Armstrong Stewart, (Dallas, TX), and Gloria Armstrong Smith (Altos, OK), grandchildren, Donaven, Mya, Brittany, Kyegen, Asia, Alyssa, Nahlya, Chris, Christina, Mia, Alexis, and Stella, and a host of family and friends.
