John Brown Obituary

John was born in Jasper, Texas to the late Oscar and Minnie Brown. He attended Jasper Schools during his early years of life. He accepted Christ at an early age. He later moved to Amarillo, Texas, becoming a long-time resident until the end of life. He was a member of Jenkins Chapel, Amarillo Texas. He was a former worker of Asarco of Amarillo Refinery.

John found great enjoyment in watching his favorite game show Wheel of Fortune, reading the newspaper, and drinking coffee (cup after cup).  He was a servant at heart in his neighborhood providing snacks to the neighborhood kids. He always had a song in his heart and many times in his church he would request to lead the songs. He always had a smile, and, in his presence, there would be love and laughter. Family was very important to him.  He had a special bond with all his children. A hard worker, a provider, a man of great example; all these things is what family and friends will truly miss the most.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Wilma Faye Brown; three sisters: Kathy Wells, Minnette Brown, and Imogene Brown Polite; one brother, Ira Brown; one great-grandson Christopher Charles Brown, II.

He leaves to cherish his memories, five sons: Thomas Eugene Gaither, John Chris (Adana) Brown, Jerry Cornell Brown of Amarillo, Texas, Jeffery Charles (Teobolen) Brown of Dallas, Texas, and John Wesley Brown Jr. of Houston, Texas one daughter, Gloria Faye Russell of Amarillo, Texas, ten grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
