Joe Edwin Walker was born on April 21, 1961, in Memphis, Texas to Leonard Walker and Opal Lee Jenkins Walker. He peacefully passed away on April 30, 2025, at BSA Hospital.
He was a beloved brother, father and community member. Joe’s life was marked by service, kindness and devotion to his family.
Joe graduated from Hereford High School in 1980, and soon after answered the call to serve his country by joining United States Army. His dedication and commitment were evident throughout his military service, and he was honorably discharged, having served with distinction. After his military service he lived in Georgia. Joe moved back to Amarillo in 2007, where he lived until his silent battle with cancer ended.
He was preceded in death by both parents and a nephew, Bryson Walker.
Joe leaves to cherish his memory a daughter, Shannon Hughes (Walker) of Amarillo, TX; two sons, Brandon Jones of Amarillo, TX, Jolen Walker of Statesboro, GA; a brother Lynn Smith of Longview, TX; four sisters, Helen-Ruth Stotts, Lynette Walker, Angela Walker, and Quen Walker all of Amarillo; wife, Sandra Walker; three grandchildren and two great granddaughters; ten nieces and nephews; and a host of cousins, great nieces, nephews numerous other caring relatives and a true friend, Russell Lawerence of Amarillo.
