It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Jo Ann Washington who left this world on April 19, 2026 at the age of 69, with her beloved sister Betty by her side .Born on April 9, 1957,in the small town of Memphis, Texas,Jo Ann graced this world with her spirit of warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith that touched the hearts of all who knew her.
Jo Ann was a cherished daughter of the late Hubert and Johnny Mae Browner who proceed her and whose loving influence shape the remarkable woman she became. She is also proceeded by her two daughters Lakisha and Danielle Washington, her sister Shirley McCullen, and her brothers Eddie Browner, JC Browner, Paul Browner, HB Browner and Larry Browner . She is survived by her devoted son Aaron Washington and her siblings Betty Ford, Odessa Ellis, Phyllis Harris, John W. Browner, who will forever treasure her memory. Jo Ann's legacy also live through her grandchildren, Desiree Crain, Ebony Washington, Adrian Washington,Alexis Washington,Carlysa Washington, Gabriel Washington, along with great grandchildren and nieces and nephews the source of much joy and pride.
Jo Ann’s life was as vibrant as her professional one . She shared a remarkable friendship of 40 years with her best friend,Annette Hinojos. Together, they created a bond with shared memories and laughter.
A dedicated learner, Jo Ann pursuit her education with determination after obtaining her GED. She attended Amarillo College where she earned her Office Administration degree. Her passion for caregiving lead her to achieve her CNA certification, marking the beginning of a fulfilling career that spanned nearly 3 decades.
Jo Ann found her true calling working as a CNA technician for Heritage Convalescent Center where she served with compassion and dedication for 29 years. Even after retirement her commitment to caring for others drew her back to work on a PRN basis. Her colleagues and her patients alike will remember her for her gentle touch and comfort she provided to so many.
As a long-standing member of St. John Baptist Church, Jo Ann faith was her guiding light. known for her strong belief, she found comfort and healing in her spirituality, offering solace not only to herself, but also to all those around her. Her faith was a beacon of hope and strength to her family and friends, who leaned on her in times of need.
Outside of her professional life, Jo Ann was a sports enthusiast, whose passiom for football and baseball brought her immense joy. She was a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos and the Texas Rangers often spending her weekend cheering on her favorite team with enthusiasm and zeal.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Enhabit hospice and the Heritage Convalescent Center for their compassionate care and support they provided during Jo Ann's final days.
Jo Ann Washington's life was a testament of love ,faith and service. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her, a gentle reminder of the impact one life can have on so many others. She will be deeply missed ,yet her spirit will continue to inspire and guide her loved ones and in all the days to come.
