Jimmie Clifford Sutton

Jimmie was born July 18, 1954, in Amarillo, Texas to Horotha (Griddine) Sutton and Bobie Sutton.  He grew up in Amarillo and was raised by his mother and stepfather, Leonard Majors.  He attended North Heights Elementary, Carver Junior High, and Palo Duro High School where he ran track and earned many medals for his achievements.  Jimmie loved going to church on Sundays, drawing, and fixing up his cars.  But most importantly he loved his family, especially calling and talking with them.  Even though the calls were brief in those few minutes you knew that he loved you and wanted to check in on you and everyone else in the family. Many of his family members knew to expect his calls on birthdays and holidays, and you could always count on receiving a birthday and Christmas card in one’s mailbox.  Jimmie spent the last 30 years residing in Wichita Falls, Texas where he made many friends, turned his life over to God, and was a member of Poem Christian Center Church under the leadership of his Pastor, Elder Romeo Montez, III.

He was preceded in death by his parents and stepfather; sister, Helen Richardson; brothers, Sonnie Sutton, Gene Sutton, and Charlie Sutton; nephew, Joe Majors; and niece, Trishia Harper. Survivors include his brother, Donnie Sutton, Sr. (Charlene) of Amarillo; sister-in-law, Venoral Sutton of Oklahoma City, OK; uncle, David Griddine of Henderson, Nevada; nephews, Samuel Richardson and Donnie Sutton, Jr. both of Amarillo and Charles Sutton of Austin, TX; nieces, Felicia Shaffer, Sonya Boyles and Elise Sutton all of Amarillo and Tracy Bembry of Dayton, OH. His best friend, Linda Abernathy of Wichita Falls, and a host of cousins, great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank all the staff of the Hospice of Wichita Falls for their comfort and professional compassionate care prior to his heavenly transition.
