Jerry Richard Obituary

Mr. Jerry Lee Richard passed away peacefully at his home on May 19, 2026. Jerry was born on September 25, 1951, in Texarkana, TX, to Claudine Richard and Dave Hall, and grew up in a large, loving family. He graduated from Amarillo Tascosa High School. While in high school, he played football and basketball and ran on the track team.

He was a man whose life reflected strength, humility, and unwavering devotion to those he cherished. He worked at Texas State Technical Institute as an auto mechanic instructor. From there, he opened his own auto mechanic shop on Amarillo Boulevard, serving his community's needs. In his early years, he worked at the Santa Fe Railroad and at the Crowe-Gulde Concrete and Ready-Mix company.

He grew up with a deep sense of purpose and responsibility, values that guided him throughout his life. Whether through his work, his service to the community, or quiet acts of kindness he offered without recognition, he touched lives in ways that will never be forgotten. He believed in hard work, in doing right by others, and in standing firm in faith — principles he lived out every day.

A loving father, grandfather, brother, and friend, he was the steady presence his family could always rely on. His wisdom shaped generations, his laughter brought joy to countless gatherings, and his gentle spirit made everyone feel seen and valued. He carried his people's history with pride and added his own chapter of resilience, dignity, and love.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his children, Elbridge Thrash (Audrey), Sheila Thrash-Woods (Robert), Dr. Sasche-Tiye Zaykariya (Ankit Devarsh), Jerry Charles (JC) Dixon, Tremaine Richardson, Micheal Richard (Toralyn), Brandon Hill and James Bradley; his siblings, Charles E. Richard, Eddie G. Richard, Freddie J. Crawford Jr., and Shirley Ashley (Carl), along with a host of relatives, friends, and all who were blessed to know him. Jerry’s honorable mention: Vexation in life, Donnise Richardson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers, Mitchell J. Warren Sr. and Frank L. Richard Sr., and his lifetime companion, Jettie V. Thrash. Though he is no longer with us in body, his legacy lives on in the hearts he touched and the lives he helped shape.
