Jeanette Barber, born August 12, 1951, in Wellington, Texas to Gertie Lee Boyd Barber and Allen Barber. She attended Booker T. Washington an all-Black School, until integration at the 8th grade. Jeanette then transferred to Wellington Jr. High School. She attended beauty school and beauty school and became a licensed Cosmetologist. She worked at Northwest Texas Hospital, Daybreak Services for the mentally challenged, and First Student Busing.
She was not afraid of hard work. Her passions were crafts of any kind, ceramics, crochet, and sewing. She considered herself the "pitmaster" and would grill in any kind of weather. Her love for her family stood above everything. Jeanette had a big heart and would help anyone in need. She was a member of Pentecostal Temple. She was number seven out of eight children and was the funniest.
She is preceded in death by her parents, four brothers; Robert Allen Barber, Claude L. Barber, Jimmie L. Barber, and Glenn Curtis Barber; two sisters, Elizabeth Dickey and Florence Dyson.
She leaves to cherish her memories; sister, Gweyndolyn Barber; son, Jessie Dewayne Barber of Amarillo, Texas; daughter, Gwendolyn Lybette Owens of Dallas, Texas; granddaughters, Tahj Marie Brown and Dondrette Owens of Atlanta, Georgia; grandson, Niko, and a host of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
