On December 16, 2022, James Earl Westmoreland, aka “Bunni,” received his crown. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and friend. He was born on April 4, 1950, to Calhoun and Bertha Westmoreland in Childress, Texas. He was one of thirteen kids. James graduated from Palo Duro High in 1969, and then served his country in the United States Army. He then worked for Santa Fe Railroad for fourteen years before retiring from Valley Protein after eighteen years. James was a free-spirited person with a smile, that would light up any room. He never met a stranger and was loved by all who met him. He was a generous, kind- hearted, and compassionate man. He loved the simple things in life, and especially spending time with family.
James is survived by his loving wife of seventeen years, Robin, children, Tanya Payne, Latacha Tinnin, James Westmoreland, Jr. (Tracy), James “Taft” Tinnin, Marcus Westmoreland, Tairimia Blount, Zadella Blount, and Stevina Blount; stepdaughters, Ashley Taylor (Marcus) and Tamara Danford (Donnie); brother, A.L. Westmoreland, and a host of grandchildren and several nieces, and nephews. James will be greatly missed by his loving family, and always remembered in their hearts.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cal Jr., David, Ernest, John, Weldon, and Howard, sisters, Ruby Thomas, Alma Hall, Velma Foster, Betty Joyce Anderson, Bertha Louise Westmoreland, and a son, James “Jimmy” Green.
