In my own words: Helen Martin

Life review

When I look back on my past, I was the only girl. Everyone started to call me sister baby. They called me that until I got almost a teenager then it was Sister. Being the oldest girl, I did a lot of work especially with my younger siblings. I put diapers on them, wash clothes on wash day, and cleaning house. But through it all, I can say we had a pretty interesting life.

Reminisce

During my lifetime I would have went on to college and major in something but when I look back, I think I did ok. I got married and had kids, took care of them, raised them up the best I could. When I look back it is a lot of things that we didn't have, but we were a happy family. We always had food to eat and a roof over our head and my kids turned out just fine. We are a close family; through it all God has brought me from a mighty long way.
