Essie was born October 8, 1959, in Amarillo, Texas to Issiah Carter and Emma Black.
Essie had a zeal and passion for God's Word and knew it well. She was very caring and loved her family. She loved playing cards with her friends and family, almost daily. She was an amazing cook. She could wear anything and made it look good. Essie was as unique as her name which she was named after her grandmother because she was the first granddaughter. She loved being around people and had such an encouraging spirit. She helped raise six siblings and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. She was very athletic in her prime, engaged in all kinds of sports, and loved dogs too.
She was preceded in death by her father, Issiah Carter, Sr., sisters, Mary Foster, Jean Foster, Joyce Ross, brothers, Terry Carter, Issiah Carter.
Survivors include: her mother, Emma Marie (James) Foster; siblings, Jerry (Gail) Carter of Amarillo, James Foster of Tennessee, Martha (Joseph) Welch of Amarillo, Joseph Foster of Amarillo, Betty (Mitcheal) Johnson of Amarillo, Gloria Baker of Amarillo; a massive number of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
