Elbert Perry, affectionately known as Bubba, departed this life on his 95th birthday, October 14, 2021. He was born in Clarksville, Texas to Jim Perry and Luella McCowan. As a child and young man, he was educated and attended church in Boxelder, Texas. He enlisted in the Armed Services in August 1945; where he served in the Army Air Corp.
He met and married Elesia Hayes on November 29, 1947. They remained married for 64 years, until her passing in 2012. He was the proud father of three daughters and six sons.
He moved to Amarillo in 1951, and began his employment at Forrester Truck Company, where he became a Transmission and Rear-end Specialist. In later years, he was employed at Texas Truck Parts where he serviced as shop manager and taught his son Ralph the trade. He was an accomplished mechanic that received several acknowledgements and awards for his work.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Elesia; two sons, Elbert Lee and Ralph; seven brothers, Ernest, Otis, Jessie, Hubert, Roy, Curtis and James; and sister, Irma.
Survivors he leaves to carry on his legacy include his children: David (Mary) of Dallas, TX; Gloria (Alvin) of Houston, TX; Douglas (Vicki) of Anaheim, CA; Wanda (Frank); Jerry (Beverly); Lori (Dwight), all of Amarillo, TX; and Kenneth of Grand Prairie, TX; daughter-in-laws, Priscilla (the late Elbert Lee) of Arlington, TX; and Linda (the late Ralph) of Amarillo, TX; twenty-two grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
