“SHORT MOMMA’’
On October 4, 1934, God blessed Ira and Ella (Carne) McCoy in Mart, Texas, with their eighth addition to their family, Dorothy. She was affectionally known as “Short Momma.” She is a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Dorothy passed away August 22, 2020 at 1:30 pm. She worked at the YMCA for twenty plus years and was a housewife also. Dorothy married Charles Jefferson, the love of her life, on March 6, 1958.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Ella (Carrie) McCoy, son, Morris Henderson, Sr., daughter, Barbara Henderson, two grandsons, Tedrick Sims and James Jefferson, great granddaughter, Keiundea Skinner, three sisters, Eltha, Huckleberry, and Julia McCoy, four brothers, Jack, Rich, Buddy
and Smith McCoy of Mart, Texas.
“Short Momma” is survived by her nine children, Craig (Bell), Charles Jr., Frankie (Brenda) of Amarillo, Renee (Frank) of Dallas, Texas, Rosland, Dorothy Jean of Amarillo, Texas. Her two adopted sons are Ronnie Mallory of Amarillo, Texas and Charles (Pam) Wooten of Dallas, Texas and an adopted daughter Jackie Jefferson of Amarillo, Texas. Her grand children are Morris Henderson Jr., Killeen, Texas, Morris Jefferson, Xavier and Edward Henderson, Edward Hewitt (Debra), Antwan (Dana), Turean and KeJuan, Renny(Erica)of Oklahoma City, Glenn(Ebony) of Amarillo, Texas, Tela(Chris) of Dallas, Texas, Tousha, Olean, Sherri(Q), Sharee (Demond), Shadinka(Melvin), Tyronda(Chris) of Tennessee, Jeffery, Kim, and Dynasty.

She leaves to mourn her passing twenty- three grandchildren, forty- four great grandchildren,
seven great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
