Doris Jean (Collins) Mays

Doris was born December 22, 1959, in Amarillo, Texas to Willie B. Collins and Gladys Jean Benton.  She attended Tascosa High School and after completion, she went into nursing.   She was the proud mother of her son, Doc Smith, Jr. 

During her youth, she enjoyed singing and had the opportunity to sing with the Stylistics.  Doris’ passion was helping others and cooking. 

Doris was preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Gladys, nephew, Anthony Terry, and former husband, Doc “Lucky” Smith, Sr.

Doris is survived by her son, Doc Smith, sister, Sandra Richardson, sister-in-law, all of Amarillo, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
