Demond Keith Tyson was born on September 1, 1981, to Shelly Marks and Lewis McGee. Demond graduated from Paris High School. He later attended college at Kansas University before transferring to West TexasA&M under a football scholarship.
Years later, he moved to Amarillo area, where he managed various restaurants. He soon changed his career path to become a CDL truck driver and worked for Golden Spread and Thomas Redi-Mix delivering concrete. He also worked for public services as a dump truck operator. Demond met the love of his life, Lakendra LeeAnn Tyson, and they were joined in Holy Matrimony on December 10, 2011. God blessed them with two sons, Demontae and Kemondray Tyson. He was known by many nicknames: Dee, DT, Tyson, or you may know him as Superman. He was a good guy all around. He loved his wife and sons dearly! He loved working hard for his family and his community.
He touched so many lives and had an huge impact on Amarillo residents, both young and old. He always was the same person every time you saw him and was willing to lend a helping hand no matter what color you were. Superman never knew a stranger because he always talked to everyone he saw about football, God, and his family. He gave back to his community by telling his story and helping other young people succeed in life and not make the same mistakes he did. He also gave to the homeless and fed them. Superman was always willing to come to your rescue, and that’s how you can describe Demond Tyson. He was and is our hero. Demond was a man of faith. He loved God and was not ashamed to let people know. He was a faithful and devoted man to his family and church.
I encouraged everyone who loved and cared about him to cherish his memory and legacy by giving kids hope and helping one another. Keep him in our hearts always and forever.
