Deloris M. (Brown) Hughes was born March 19, 1945 in Vernon, Texas to J.B. Brown and Pearles Gaines. At the age of nine, her family moved to Amarillo, Texas. She received the Lord as her savior at the tender age of eleven. Throughout her adolescent years she enjoyed the guidance of her grandmother Ms. Maddie Manigo.
In 1954 she was blessed to have met Bobby G. Hughes, over the next sixty-six years, they were inseparable. To this union eight children were born. She was a faithful servant of the New Light Ministries until her failing health. Deloris loved fishing, making meals (she was a fantastic cook) ol’ school music, decorating, gardening, and above all spending time with her family.
She was proceeded in death by her parents; J.B. Brown and Pearles Gaines, grandmother; Ms. Maddie Manigo, son; Darryl, and grandson; Wesley Ford.
She is survived by her husband, Bobby Hughes, children; Danette Ford (Ray), Greg “Plucky” Brown (Sandy), Beverly Hughes, Debora Hewitt (Pastor Ed Hewitt), Lois Ford, Gary Hughes, Gwen Fields (Terry), and Tammy Miles (Henry). Twenty-four grandchildren; Tameka, Tranetra, Toria, Ashley, Tiffany, Candace, Ebony, Michelle, Jermaine, Monique, Ashuntae, Brittany, Bridget, Zachary, Cedric, Whitney, Patrice, Eboni, Carlin Jr., Cahlil, Calum, Darius, and Taveyon, DJ, eighty-six, great grandchildren, forty-eight great great grandchildren and Sister-in-law; Ina R. Campbell, and a host of relatives and friends.
