David Edward Hicks, known as “KC”, was born December 26, 1956, in Long Beach, California, to the late George Gaither and I 'Junior Wright-Hicks. He attended Hilltop Elementary, and Carver High School.
David was a very friendly person, and he never met a stranger. He would give you his shirt off his back. He loved animals and would take in any stray dog or cat saw in need of care. He always carried a backpack with his important thing in it. He also carried his dog “backpack” in his bag until the dog was able to walk on his on. David loved his dog “Backpack”.
David enjoyed playing dominoes, pool, painting and motor cycles. He was a great cook and like watching the “Dallas Cowboys”. If you wanted a good laugh, he was the one to make you smile and laugh with his jokes and “life sayings”. Always smiling and living life was his motto. He worked at Levi Strauss as a production worker until becoming disabled.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George Gaither and I ‘ Junior Wright-Hicks; brother, Carl Hall; son, Dandrell Smith; special friend, Sherrel Smith.
He leaves to cherish his memories his son, David Hicks, Jr.; daughters, Shemika (Stan) Sprague of Amarillo, Texas, Tiffany Scott of Houston, Texas; sisters, Velma Hall and Georgetter Quincy of Amarillo, Texas and Katrina Hicks of Austin, Texas; nieces, Nicole (Michael) Anderson of Houston, Texas, Schenetria Lewis of Dallas, Texas, Traletha Sims of Amarillo, Texas; nephew, Lavell Hall of Amarillo, Texas, six grandchildren and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, and friends.
