Chancy Dowd Obituary

Ms. Chancy Jahoi Dowd, 41, of Amarillo, Texas, passed away on August 12, 2022.

Chancy was born on November 21, 1980, in Memphis, Texas, to the late Marian “Cooky” Dowd and Samuel Jones II.

Chancy grew up and was raised in Quitaque, Texas.  She attended elementary, middle, and high school at Valley High School in Turkey, Texas.  She attended and graduated as a nurse from Clarendon College and was currently attending Howard College to continue her journey as a nurse.  She was employed at The Arbors Rehabilitation Center of Amarillo and had been employed for six years.  She was a wound care nurse and had a special love for her patients.   Chancy was a light, to many at The Arbors, until the Lord called her home.

Chancy’s favorite hobbies were working, shopping, going to garage sales, sports, spending time with her dog, King and drinking hot Cherry Cokes.

Chancy was raised in the church at Macedonia Baptist Church in Quitaque, Texas.  She later moved to Amarillo, Texas, and became a member of New Birth Bible Fellowship.   She attended until the Lord called her home.

Chancy was preceded in death by her infant daughter,  A’Honesty Rockmore, mother, Marian “Cooky” Dowd, grandmother, Dorothy Fulbright “Nanny Ma”, great-grandfather, Lamb Dowd and brother, Kyle Jones (Chicago).

She leaves to cherish her memories: children, Semajay and Shamya Jordan (Amarillo), her other son, King; brother, Samuel Jones III (Hawaii), three sisters:  Jazmine Jones (Amarillo), Candace Summers (Virginia) and Tisha-Qualls Keeley (Fort Worth). Chancy leaves to cherish her memories three aunts: Teresa (John) Session, Childress, Donna Fulbright (Amarillo), Cynthia Jeter (Childress), one uncle, Lance Polley (Adriana), Amarillo, “Gigi” Gaddis, the Clardy family, good friends, Porsha Vidaurre, Shayla Washington, Sharunda Hendrix, life partner, Donnie Butler, godfather, Ken Roney, and a host of family and friends.
