Carrie L. Shannon was born May 3, 1943, to Jessie and Helen Culpepper in Tenaha, Texas. The family moved to Wellington, Texas, in 1949.
Carrie married her late husband, John Shannon, at an early age. Carrie enjoyed her time at the workshop in Wellington. She then moved to Dallas, Texas for a short period of time, and
then to Amarillo, Texas. She enjoyed her time at the Dayhab but her major accomplishment was being a housewife and taking care of her family.
Carrie enjoyed listening to music like gospel, country, and R&B. She loved her puzzles, crossword books, and coloring. Being around family and friends brought joy to her. She had a smooth way with her words and was never a stranger to anyone.
She leaves behind a great legacy to continue which includes four brothers, Calvin Culpepper of Phoenix, Arizona, James Culpepper (Barbara) of Fort Worth, Texas, Larry and Kevin Culpepper of Wellington, Texas; one sister, Debra Kincaid (Wayne) of Fort Worth, Texas; two daughters, Lois and Bobby Woodard of Dallas, Texas, and Darlene King of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Tierra Reyes of Amarillo, Texas, Marvin and Claudia Shannon of Amarillo, Texas, Sabrina and Michael Watkins of Dallas, Texas, Da'Meshia King, Clifford King, and Charity King; twenty-nine great-grands; and a
host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Carrie goes to join her parents, Jessie and Helen Culpepper; husband, John Shannon; four brothers, Learvis, Jessie Jr., and Richard Culpepper, and Jay Thomas; three sister, Imogene Mallory, Helen Culpepper, and Jessie Mays; son-in-law, Clifford King; and four great-grands, DJ (Darius Chavez), MJ (Marvin Jr. Shannon), Clifford, and Liffard King.
