Carolyn Scott was born August 25, 1946, to Orlander and Cleo Malone in Henderson, Texas. She attended Henderson Colored High School, where she was a member of the school band. After graduating, she moved to Tyler, Texas, and attended barber college. After receiving her barber and beautician License, Carolyn moved to Amarillo, Texas, and began working at Levi Strauss, where she stayed employed for many years. While living in Amarillo, she met and married her forever love, the late L.B. Scott, Sr. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church. In 1997, Carolyn began her beautician career working at The Union Barber Shop until 2020.
She was preceded in death by her husband, L.B. Scott, Sr.; parents, Orlander and Cleo Malone; two brothers, John Howard Malone and Clyde Grey; and two sisters, Mary Johnson and Gloria Scott.
She leaves to cherish her memories: one daughter, Deborah (Clayton) Sims of Amarillo; three sons, Carl (Christin) Evans of Amarillo, Terry (Tiana) Evans of Amarillo, and Shannon (Stephanie) Evans of Amarillo; three extended sons, Edward (Michelle) Corker, Dr. L.B. (Toni) Scott, Jr., and Levie (Shamicka) Scott; one brother, Willie Malone of Oakland, CA; two sisters, Betty Scott of Amarillo and Ruby (Arturis) Spencer of Amarillo; nineteen grandchildren; thirty-four great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
