Brenda Cook

Brenda Bernice Cook was born November 7, 1948, to Mary Joe Barr and Homer Lorenzo Cook, Jr.  Brenda was born in Bonham, Texas, but moved to Amarillo, Texas where she spent most of her life.

As an adolescent, Brenda was known to be laid back, but also a ray of sunshine. Her smile was known to brighten a room, as well as a spirit. In her teens, she worked with her mother at the Brockington Hotel and the family Café. She also worked a few waitresses’ jobs where she loved to meet new people.

Brenda was a 1967 Caver Dragon and loved spending time with her classmates. In her adult life, she took on the responsibility of raising her two granddaughters. She was well loved by her family, friends, and others in the community. Brenda was known to be a socialite and lived life to the fullest. She enjoyed new experiences, traveling, spending time with her family and friends. Brenda was a person with initiative and went above and beyond to provide for her family.

Brenda departed this life on August 9, 2022. Brenda is survived by her sisters:  Marie Gordon and Carlas Williams; children, Rita White, Alva Allen, and Leonard Cook; grandchildren Jessica Barnes, Britta White, Chloe Johnson, Nicolette White, Tashanna Cook; niece, Chasity Williams and nephew, Dewayne Gordon. Brenda is preceded by her parents, Mary Joe Barr, Homer Lorenzo Cook, and Jesse Brockington, brother, Robert Cook, sister, Tuwana Cook, and daughter, Mary Cook.

Ecclesiastes 3:12-13: (12) I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live. (13) That each of them may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all their toil—this is the gift of God.”
