Beverly Lax was born on April 8, 1953, in Dennison, Texas, to Eura Mae and Clifford Bell.
Beverly attended Amarillo High School and later earned her bachelor’s from West Texas State in education and master’s from West Texas A&M University in education. After college Beverly worked at Pantex for five years, later going into her chosen field of Education.
Beverly dedicated most of or career in education serving as a teacher and principal during those years. Beverly was also a proud member of the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority where she was involved deeply in not only connecting with her sisters but also serving the community from the various projects throughout the years. She was also very proud member or New Hope Baptist Church where she has been a member over 40 years and recently served as the missionary president and church treasurer as well as other committees and planning for church activities.
Beverly was interested in baseball and played years in various baseball/softball leagues around Amarillo. She was also an avid shopper and never missed an opportunity to look her best. She was very thoughtful and had an arrangement of cards for every occasion whether it was get well, to special occasions or even thinking of you she had the card ready to send. Beverly enjoyed everyone in her life and cherished every event, fundraiser, outing, as long as people were happy. Beverly will truly be missed by those she touched/embraced, and we will always be thankful for the time she shared with us.
Beverly is preceded in death by her mother, Eura Mae Harmon; daughter, Shalimar Huff; and sister, Carol Calloway.
She is survived by her stepfather William Harmon, Sr., brother William Harmon Jr. (Shelley), sister: Marva Holman; children: Colby Campbell and grandchildren; Danica M Campbell and Rylie N Campbell.
