Bertha Bowers passed into the presence of the Lord on Thursday, October 23, 2025, at the age of 102, unconditionally loved by her family.
Bertha "Tonsie" was born to the late Elbert Hill and Rosie Johnson-Hill on Octobe3r 29, 1922 in LaGrange, Texas, Fayetta County. The third child of the Hill and Johnson children.
She moved to Amarillo, Texas October of 1950. She enjoyed going to church, reading her bible, teaching about the Bible, and having missionary and prayer meetings in her home. Her hobbies were arts and crafts, cleaning and decorating her home.
Sister Bowers was a faithful and active member of Greater Mt. Olive Baptist Church until her health declined. She still read her bible and had bible study with her daughter, sister Shirley Romaine. She loved the Lord.
She and her husband Ezekiel Bowers had a strong and unbreakable "Family Bond".
She was employed for James B. Franklin for twenty years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elbert and Rose Hill; a brother, and six sisters, a son Charles Kinder.
She leaves to carry on her legacy her children: Shirley Romaine, Earman Gilbreath, and Sandra Cleveland, grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and a host a family and friends. She was a loving aunt to many. She loved them all the same.
She loved to sing Precious Lord. Her favorite scripture was the 23rd Psalm.
