Bennie Lindsey-Shaw Obituary

Bennie Margeret Lindsey-Shaw was born October 30, 1930 in Henderson, Texas to Clarence Strong, Sr. and Thelma Alexander Strong.  During their stay in Henderson, Bennie graduated high school.  Years later, the family migrated to Amarillo with her only child, Willie, Jr.

In Amarillo, Bennie attended nursing school where she received her LVN license.  Bennie’s work history was lengthy.  She worked in the nursing field for over fifty (50) years.  Bennie was also employed at the old St. Anthony’s Hospital, Northwest Text Hospital and Bivens Nursing Home.  She retired at last from Vivian’s Nursing Home at the age of seventy- eight (78) years young. (smile) She was a true caregiver.

As a Christian, Bennie devoted her life to Christ at an early age and was a member, in good standing, at the St. John Baptist church until failing health.  She served on many committees, missionary sisters, church cheerleader, choir, president’s council and many others.  Most of all, she encouraged everyone she met.  She was a woman of integrity.

She was preceded in death by her dad, Clarence Sr., brother; Clarence Jr., mother; Thelma and her husband; Hosie of thirty (30) years or more.

Bennie leaves to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy, her husband, Willie, Sr., of Kansas City, MO, son; Willie Jr.(Bettye) of Amarillo, grandchildren; Dana, Datra(Lynette) Deanna; great grandchildren; Misty(Shandra) Monique, Mahogany, Jacoby, Breia, Alyssa; great-great grandchildren; Jeremiah, Quon, Dayquan, Jayden, Lauryn, Jalea, Zian ; special cousin; Opal Blackwell, special friend Bobbie Neal, and a host of relataives and friends.
