A'mon D. Turner was born October 17, 1972, in Amarillo, Texas, to Benny and Lena Turner. He was a proud graduate and honored athlete of Palo Duro High School (1991). After graduation, he attended Southwestern College in Winfield, Kansas, with scholarships in football and track. He played football all 4 years and ran track for 3 years. He was awarded All-Conference in football for 2 consecutive terms and All-American awards as a member of the track relay team. A'mon graduated in 1997 with a Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts and an emphasis on K-12th grade education. He moved to Dallas, where he began his career in teaching. For six years, A'mon taught elementary physical education and coached junior & high school football/track for the Richardson Independent School District. Eventually, A'mon returned to Amarillo to raise his amazing son, A'sante, whom he loved dearly. A'mon was an advocate for equality, prosperity, and the longevity of the black community.
He is preceded in death by his beloved paternal grandparents James and Roxie Turner, and his maternal grandparents, Will and Lois Thrilkill.
A'mon leaves behind to cherish his memory his parents, Benny and Lena Turner, his beautiful son, A'sante Turner, his brother Trent Turner, niece, Ashley Turner and nephews, Jabaar and Aldan Turner and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. Rest well A’mon until we see you again.
