Mrs. Maxine Scott was born January 9, 1941 in Amarillo, TX, to Lewis and Clara Thomas. She attended Carver High School but moved to Denver Colorado where she graduated from East High School. She later moved back to Amarillo and started working at the Herring Hotel, Melody Club, Sam Ruis, Sugar Hill Liquor Store and Quality Liquor Store.
She then met and married the love of her life Sammy Scott Sr. They were married for 50 years. To this union 2 children were born. She loved Bid Whist, spades, and coon-can which she still holds the title from her son-in-law. She was one of the founders of the Ebonies Club founded in January 1977 which is still standing.
She is preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, one brother, and her honey of 50 years.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her sons; Darren (Las Vegas), Sammy Jr. and Jimmy of Amarillo, daughters Racheal (Pastor EJ Cofer) of Amarillo, and Frances of Fort Worth, TX. The love of her life Elijah (Eman) Cofer, brothers; Lewis Thomas (Ann) of Lubbock, TX and Otis Thomas of New York, sisters; Marilyn Steel, Darlene Jordon (Lee) all of Denver, CO, sisters-in-law; Willie Atkins (Amarillo), brothers-in-law; Roga (Nadine) Scott of Wichita Fall, TX Gene Scott of Las Vegas, Bruce Scott (Donna) of Amarillo, TX, a host of nieces and nephews and her special friend Belinda Basten.
