Lois was born June 9, 1950 in Dallas, TX to the late Sue Nez Alberts and Morris Austin. At an early age she moved to Amarillo, TX where she stayed for the remainder of her life. She received her education from Carver Highschool. She married Kelsie Baker May 20, 2003. For 28 years she was a hard worker for ASARCO until a well-deserved retirement in 2006.
She was a devoted and loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was always the glue for her family who frequently gathered to enjoy her amazing cooking, especially during holiday season. She was known for her feisty personality and great sense of humor. Those around her never questioned her love for them because she was always very affectionate. She will be deeply missed by all that knew and adored her.
She is preceded in death by her mother; Sue Nez Alberts, her father; Morris Austin and her daughter; Charity Dawn Powell. She is survived by her husband; Kelsie Baker Jr. of 16 years. Her sister; Bobbie Smith and husband Dock Smith. Her children; Valeda London of Amarillo, TX, Lela London of Lubbock, TX, Bobbie Smith of Amarillo, TX, stepson; Kelsie Baker III (Brenda) of Amarillo, TX, stepdaughter; Lisa Baker of Fort Worth, TX. Her 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. Special sister; Betty Smith, special nieces; Shirley Smith, special daughter; Myesha Bates and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
